Northern California Grantmakers offers hands-on skill-building workshops for grantmaking professionals at all stages in their careers.

Each year, staff works closely with the Organizational Effectiveness and Professional Development Committee to develop new skill-building workshops that are responsive to members' needs and interests. 

NCG Professional Development Workshops

  • New Grantmakers Institute
    This highly-acclaimed, two-day institute teaches grantmaking basics in a series of interactive workshops.
  • Corporate Philanthropy Institute
    A day-long conference focusing on the issues facing corporate grantmakers.
  • Public Policy Advocacy Workshop
    Presented in partnership with Alliance for Justice, this training explores the legal rules governing public policy advocacy.
  • Nonprofit Financial Analysis
    Presented in partnership with the Nonprofit Finance Fund, this skill-building workshop teaches how to read between the lines of financial statements and comprehend the story behind the numbers.
  • Advanced Grantmaking Intensives
    Presented in partnership with The Grantmaking School, NCG offers annually one of two course offerings.
  • Heart of Philanthropy
    Offered every two years, this retreat for seasoned grantmakers that focuses on reconnecting to the work with both head and heart.
